Packing List

What should our staff bring for the workshop classes?
- A laptop computer with WiFi capabilities. We suggest at least one per school.
- If your school uses InDesign to create your book, then InDesign CS3 or CS4 with YearTech 2012 should be loaded on your laptop prior to the workshop. Notify your rep if you need help with this.
- We recommend that you also have Photoshop loaded on your laptop if possible. Any version will do, but we prefer CS3 and above. Photoshop Elements is okay too.
- Please make sure your laptop has the latest version of Adobe Flash Player installed. Here is a link to the Adobe download site for the latest version of Flash Player.
- Your 2011 yearbook ladder
- Your school’s calendar of events. (Bring the 2011 one if the 2012 one is not done yet).
- Your most recent yearbook.
- Theme and cover ideas for your 2012 book. They don’t have to be finalized, but start thinking about it and bring ideas of what you like so far.
- Magazine clippings or other examples of “the look” that you like for your book next year or of graphic effects that you like. If you have a picture to show us what you have in mind, it really helps the Yearbook University staff and artists to help you develop your ideas.
- A notebook and pens/pencils to take notes and sketch ideas. Colored pencils or pens would be a good idea for at least one staff member to bring.
- Any extra yearbooks from recent years that you would like to exchange with other schools at the Great Book Exchange.
- One copy of your most recent book to enter into the People’s Choice Awards.
- Your 2012 Yearbook Kit.
- A Digital Camera to capture your staff’s experience.
- A thumb drive to share and save ideas. Loading it with some sample pictures prior to the workshop may be helpful to you as you work on layout designs.
- A spiral bound notebook, pens, pencils, colored markers
What should I bring for me?
- An Alarm Clock or cell phone with alarm to wake you up on time.
- A backpack or book bag.
- Money if your staff plans on stopping for dinner on the way home on Wednesday evening. There is also a Bistro coffee shop on campus that has lattes and various sundries.
- Casual Clothes.
- Jeans and t-shirts are appropriate.
- Bring comfortable shoes for walking and tennis shoes for the Adventure Games.
- A jacket
- A swimsuit and a swim towel for the pool party. You may also bring pool noodles or other reasonable pool toys.
- Coordinated school spirit wear for the Adventure Games. We encourage schools to arrive at Yearbook University all decked out to show their school spirit.
- Personal toiletries, Towels, Robe.
- A flashlight for evenings outdoors.
- Optional water bottle and small snacks for your afternoon and evening staff meetings or if you like to snack between meals. (We will be having s’mores on Monday night and ice-cream on Tuesday night.)
