This summer, our Yearbook University education will be lead byCasey Nichols – Nationally Know Yearbook Superpower.

A self-described “yearbook nerd”, Casey Nichols actually started out as a newspaper sports writer and a high school newspaper editor. During his 28 year teaching career he advised award-winning publications at both the high school and middle school levels. He advised the Eich Intermediate School paper and yearbooks for 11 years, and has spent the past 17 years at Rocklin High School in Rocklin, CA where he advises the Tonitrus yearbook.
Casey’s students at both schools consistently created national award-winning books. The Tonitrus yearbook at Rocklin High School is a frequent CSPA Crown and NSPA Pacemaker winner. (These are the two highest student journalism awards possible.) Casey has been honored as the JEA Yearbook Adviser of the Year in 2004 and has also earned a NSPA Pioneer Award, a JEA Medal of Merit, and a CSPA Gold Key. More importantly, the books consistently sell at 80% or higher buy rate, which means they are a hit with the student body at the school.
Casey teaches workshops across the country and at national conventions. Despite all of his high honors, Casey is very down to earth and has an easy, gentle, teaching style. He inspires students to dream big, work hard, and achieve their goals. He believes that a successful book is one that the students at your school will love and purchase.
Yearbooks aren’t just a job for Casey; they are a lifestyle. His wife, Sarah, is the current JEA Adviser of the Year (2010) and their four-year- old Carson seems destined for a similar career. Now, that’s what we mean by Yearbookologist!
In addition to Casey, you will have an entire team of yearbook professionals there to help you develop your dream, book and give you the tools to make it happen. Your local Yearbook Reps will be there along with Jennifer Corum, plant consultant from Visalia.
You will receive cover art and designing service from a professional artist who will help you illustrate your theme with graphics and related visual concepts to take back with you, which helps with early cover submission (and savings!)
You will also be able to browse through piles of books from all across the country for new ideas. What better way to build the plan for your dream book than to see how others have taken their yearbook to a whole new level?
